This is a GE 6Tc probe that we had in for repair. The articulation wire had broken resulting in no movement in one direction when the articulation wire was moved. When the bending rubber was removed you can see the wire has snapped and frayed. The concern with this type of damage is if a sharp strand of wire pokes out through the bending rubber it can be an electrical safety hazard, a sharp hazard to the patient as it is inserted and removed and also allow fluid ingress into the probe. It just goes to show the value in electrical leakage testing your TEE/TOE probes.
